Shubhangi Srivastava is a senior majoring in Political Science –
Public Service with a minor in Economics.
She’s interested in utilizing participatory action research
methods to facilitate social change. Along with the Public Policy
Internship, she is working to create an advocacy non-profit
organization that aims to reduce the stigma surrounding foster
care and increase awareness about the fostering process.
Shubhangi hopes to follow her passion for social justice and
project management by pursuing a career in public policy or
social entrepreneurship, and eventually, in academia.
The Undergraduate Public Policy Internship provides an
opportunity for undergraduate students to work closely with
Center for Poverty Research staff to research current state and
federal legislation to help disseminate the Center’s latest
research.
In addition, interns receive training and mentorship to plan and
execute a major outreach project. Previous year’s projects
include Faculty Affiliate videos on poverty, social media
campaigns, a survey of federal legislators and
infographics.
