Our video series provide a basic understanding of poverty and
poverty policy in the U.S. with Faculty Affiliates who are
experts in their fields. Videos include short introductions to
poverty research in our Brief Guide to Poverty in the U.S. as
well as course lectures related to poverty.
Poverty in the United States is a complex problem, and no
individual research discipline or approach will solve
it. These short videos provide a basic foundation for
understanding the causes and consequences of poverty in the U.S.
and possible solutions suggested by research today.
The UC Davis Poverty Research and Policy Summit at UC Center
Sacramento on April 22, 2016. The event brought together
researchers, policymakers, practitioners and advocates to
summarize and discuss the state of poverty research and public
policy over the past decade, and how research can better inform
policy in the decade to come.
The Center for Poverty Research seminar series features
visiting faculty, researchers and thought leaders from
across the country discussing their work on poverty.
These lectures are part of a UC Davis hybrid course on poverty
and public policy offered in fall 2017. The course is led by Ann
Huff Stevens, a Professor of Economics.
