Apply Now: UC Davis Summer Poverty Research Engagement Experience (UCD-SPREE)

The Center for Poverty Research (CPR) at UC Davis in collaboration with Howard University, Morehouse College and Spelman College, invite undergraduates from these three HBCUs to apply to the UCD-SPREE program to introduce undergraduates to poverty research in economics and sociology and prepare them for graduate school leading to a Ph.D.
UCD-SPREE participants will travel to UC Davis during their first summer in the program, where they will be paired with faculty and graduate student mentors and introduced to research at CPR. Students will participate in CPR activities and coordinating graduate school preparation components.
While at UC Davis students will stay in student dorms and be provided a student meal plan for the duration of the prgoram. Participants’ travel to and from UC Davis is also covered and they will receive a $4,000 summer stipend. Following their summer research experience, students will participate in CPR conferences and events, either returning to UCD or through teleconference.

– Economics student from Howard University
– Sociology students from Morehouse College
– Sociology students from Spelman College
Program will begin on June 21, 2020 and end on August 6, 2020.
