Kamal Middlebrook is a junior psychology major and criminal justice minor at Morehouse College. In high school, Kamal became very interested about why people think and behave the way that they do, which is why he chose to pursue a degree in psychology. Having brothers that some consider “delinquents” who are also living in poverty has peaked Kamal’s interest in researching poverty and how the many aspects of poverty are related to criminology. Kamal says the UCD-SPREE program will expose him to research that he is extremely interested in and hopes that he will be able to use the information he gains this summer to vastly contribute to society as a whole. At Morehouse, when not focused on his academic endeavors, Kamal is involved in two specific organizations; one of those organizations is geared toward eradicating drunk driving, and the other is focused on social and community-service activities for my class. Kamal prides himself on being able to balance his academic responsibilities by also focusing on social callings.
