Job Opening
The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) is seeking social science analysts to cover a variety of poverty, low-income and human services issues. These positions are open to applicants with Master’s level education as well as PhDs.

Qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques of quantitative and/or qualitative analysis combined with a high degree of analytical ability.
  • Knowledge of the Federal legislative and budgetary process in order to develop and review legislative and budgetary proposals.
  • Ability to conduct independent research and analysis on specific issues, programs or data.
  • Knowledge of research on poverty in the United States and major anti-poverty and human services programs.
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication.

Job Description: Analysts will develop and conduct policy analysis and social science research; plan and conduct research and evaluation activities to inform decisions about program improvement, regulations, and/or policy development; develop specifications, justifications, and analyses for legislation and/or regulations; evaluate anti-poverty program and policy issues, human service programs, and the delivery of effective services; conduct data analysis related to policy issues, legislation, and regulations; communicate results from research and analysis; and represent ASPE and the Department at briefings and meetings.
