Why Poverty Research Matters The Inaugural Event of the Center for Poverty Research
On November 7, 2011, the Center hosted its inaugural event, a
panel discussion featuring faculty affiliates Hilary Hoynes, Paul
Heckman, Kevin Johnson, and Ross Thompson. The panelists
discussed how poverty research across multiple
disciplines–economics, education, law, and psychology–can
inform public policy and improve people’s lives.
Congressman John Garamendi, UC Davis Provost Ralph Hexter, and
more than 80 guests from the University community and beyond
attended.
